CC of Durham Directors
Heather
Mangum
Classical Conversations of
Durham
I strive to love the
Lord with all of my heart, soul, and mind. I am passionate about seeing
souls won for His glory. I came to know Christ in a personal way in my
20's. Since then He has radically changed my life. I am
passionate about knowing Him, teaching others about Him, and training
my children in the way of the Lord. I am married to a wonderful,
godly man named Martie. We have four children, Taylor (11), Ethan
(4), Andrew (2), and Tabitha (1). My husband is the pastor at
our church. I never thought I would be a "pastor's wife", but God does the
impossible. I am excited to see how He is going to use me to serve as
the Classical Conversations of Durham director.

I love the Lord, my husband, children and
homeschooling! Being my 5th year involved in CC, the Challenge A
program allows me to be fully involved with students that are ready to
take the knowledge they are learning and begin to discuss it from a
variety of viewpoints. There are 3 viewpoints in our home. My
husband, Leighton, works hard at his Handyman Service and likes to
fish. He is fun! Summer, our 8 year old daughter, is busy
either catching snakes & bugs or reading. She is
adventurous! I am usually organizing all that fun, cooking,
gardening or reading a "how to" for the next adventure. I am ready!
My favorite verse right now is Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in
doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not
give up."

God called our family to CC in January of 2006 by participating in Foundations. I have enjoyed tutoring Journeymen for two years and Challenge B for a year. One of my favorite aspects of CC is the relationships our family has developed through the years. I am particularly fond of my students, both current and past. Joe and I have four children, one daughter and three sons. We enjoy reading, playing cards and camping. I am an avid knitter wanna-be!

I am so thankful God led our family to
homeschooling and to Classical Conversations of Durham! Prior to
having children, I taught in a Classical Christian school and fell in love
with the classical method. My husband, Mark and I have three boys
and a fourth on the way this fall. Josiah is 7. Gideon is 5,
and Levi is 4. One of my favorite sections of Scripture is
Philippians 2:1-18. I am excited to tutor Challenge I this
year!
